Important results from the project

The goal of the project was to present a long-term collaboration to continue working with sustainability and surface treatment. A proposal has been developed that will be a forum for a sustainable surface treatment industry in the shape of a membership program financed by membership fees. A steering group with representatives from the industry and from the coordinating party RISE has been created to take the proposal further into reality.

Expected long term effects

In the long term, the project will contribute to reduced emissions and increased competitiveness for the Swedish surface treatment industry (including suppliers and subcontractors) both in terms of CO2 footprint and other sustainability aspects. The forum is also intended to function as an actor that can represent the surface treatment industry towards authorities nationally and at EU level.

Approach and implementation

The project was based on a number of meetings and workshops physical and digitial and meetings with parties separately and in large group. The challenges have mainly been related to book meetings with the right people to participate when time has to be prioritized before, i.e production related problems. A one-year project time is both an advantage and a challenge: The parties are aware of the need of keep pace, but it is a challenge to find dates for a large number of participants.
