Purpose and goal
The project addresses integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) in a network with several access points (APs) and sensing nodes, targeting multi-static imaging of the environment by fusing multiple bistatic measurements. The objective is to develop energy-efficient algorithms for multi-static synchronization, considering the requirements of sensing and communication, both for the bistatic acquisition and subsequent coherent fusion of images.
Expected effects and result
The project strengthens Swedish 6G development by advancing on practical aspects of ISAC, an emerging key technology allowing the entire communications network to serve as a sensor while complying with the Agenda 2030 of stringent resource and energy efficiency. Sensing as a service provided by the mobile network facilitates new applications and services that exploit spatial information about unconnected objects as well as connected devices and their movements and surroundings.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is a collaboration between Linköping University, the company Altair Engineering, and National Institute of Technology, Silchar, India. The project will be implemented through collaboration in three work packages with clear objectives and expected outcomes, and recurrent common meetings to ensure progress.
