Important results from the project
The project aim has been to build up a process management function and to set-up an environment for research and innovation in the business area data centers and clouds. The project has surpassed the set targets in terms of: * Results from the R&I pilots * Establishment of the institiute and R&I test facility * ´Coaching´ of other R&I projects in the same industry area The project has not fully achieved its objectives with respect to: * Documentation of some quality-defining processes
Expected long term effects
The project has met or exceeded its targets, regarding results and effects. We have strengthened our position nationally and in the Nordic, as a leading region for development of new technologies and new methods, that instruments data centers to become more resource-efficient and sustainable. Examples are; improved virtualization technology for flexibility/energy-efficient use of physical computing resources and automated/intelligent management of buildings, power and cooling.
Approach and implementation
The project objectives included to complete at least three smaller research and innovation pilots (´R&I Pilots´). The project has managed to run five R&I pilots, which has been a success. Despite their small size, several pilots has generated important results for their pilot parties. Also, our practical experience from handling of pilots, has driven us to improve our process management function, such as the importance of clear starting-requirements / criteria and clear documentation and extensive information about the decisions taken.
