Important results from the project
The possibility of having closed loop recycling of the material is to be investigated. The goal is to answer whether it is technically and commercially feasible and, if it is, under what conditions. After investigating, we see that a research project can begin. Everyone in the value chain will need to be involved. Contacts in research and technology have been established which provided valuable input into the future development. Unfortunately, more testing was not possible within the current time frame. Cost estimates for the initial investment in machinery have been attained.
Expected long term effects
The research demonstrates the great potential in the processing of the material as well as the production of an intended product. All tests and supporting data indicate that we will be able to conduct a full-scale project to build an experimental line. However it needs further research to fully get the answer to our initial questions. The contacts we had, especially SWEREA and Chalmers, will enable further research into the project and contribute strongly to bring the company forward as the project has the potential to lift the entire company´s performance.
Approach and implementation
The work has been allocated based on what each participant can influence in the value chain. The most extensive analyzes have been performed on the machine side. We have done calculations with the other participants and conducted tests. The partnership has worked well and we have started to exchange knowledge and experience in more areas. All participants have prioritized the project but we see a need to invest in a research line. This will enable us to minimize the risks before investing further in a full scale project.
