Purpose and goal

The vision for Climate-leading process industries is to support a transition from a fossil-dependent industrial region to a region where the industry is a world leader in the production of chemicals, materials and fuels based on renewable and recycled raw materials. The initiative will continue to work for contributions to solutions to these challenges and to develop the an innovation environment that the West Sweden chemicals and materials cluster constitutes into an increasingly important catalyst where products, business models and value chains are developed and demonstrated.

Expected effects and result

Selection of effects and results 2029: More end products containing recycled materials and bio-raw materials Recycling refinery concept established Knowledge base has been developed for how bio-based raw materials can be integrated into process industry Support to the establishment of at least one production plant based on renewable raw materials An initiative for electro fuels and chemicals have been established Process industries use a greater share of climate-neutral electricity and hydrogen Establishment of policy conditions to support the process industry´s transition

Planned approach and implementation

The work takes place in five areas with different thematic orientations: Three technology-focused areas with the names "Recycling refinery", "Renewable feedstock" and "Process technology", as well as two supporting areas, "Skill Supply" and "New Products and Services". The toolbox that the initiative uses can be summarized partly in the non-project-related activities such as seminars and workshops and partly as the collaborative projects with funding directly from the initiative or from external funding sources that are formed within the various thematic areas.
