Important results from the project
The degree of awareness at the participating companies has been raised during the project. A strategic work regarding cleanliness in production raises the competitiveness of the companies. Experiences and knowledge that have been emerged during the project will be used in other relevant networks and projects. A methodology has been developed in cooperation with the companies to systematically identify contamination sources during the production.
Expected long term effects
Many of the participating companies have already begun to work on cleanliness in the production. The project has been able to lift the on-going work by studying the cleanliness systematically and raising the awareness at the companies. A holistic approach has been introduced where the focus, previously, has been on individual process steps. One goal is to promote the knowledge that has been emerged from the project. This includes for example both methodology development and further investigations of the possibilities to use on-line methods for analysis of the cleanliness level.
Approach and implementation
The project has been presented for the members within the Center for Cleanliness. The project has been formed based on discussions together with the companies. A common feedback is that it is difficult to work with cleanliness with a holistic mindset. The methodology has been developed based on a holistic approach, combined with deeper examinations of each process step. It has been tested and refined through case studies. A literature review has been performed regarding on-line analyzes for cleanliness. The conclusion is that existing on-line analyses do not reach required accuracy.
