Important results from the project

The purpose of step 1 was to perform a technical feasibility study and understand the scope of the innovation and how a proof-of-concept project needed to look in step 2. Additionally, a goal has been to create a constellation that has all required competencies and resources to get this innovation to the next stage. Finally, building a capital structure that allows for progression for step 2 has also been a main goal.

Expected long term effects

We have successfully conducted a technical feasibility study, which has led to a project plan for step 2 outlining the different steps of expression system development all the way to a proof-of-concept product. We have organized a constellation of 6 partners that together cover all required fields for the innovation to succeed, in: biotechnology, food tech, communication & media, environmental studies, business development. Ultimately a feasible budget for step 2 has been outlined that covers all essential parts for project progression.

Approach and implementation

Step 1 was conducted through joint work between 3 partners. Lab studies where carried out both in food lab and biotech lab, looking at protein characteristics and expression in microbial systems respectively. Prior-art studies were carried out with a patent engineer. We conducted several meetings with investors, lenders and met with partners & others at conferences. This helped with external analysis (societal, environmental impact, competition, customer preference) and forming partnerships for step 2.
