Important results from the project
Digidem Lab, RISE and Coompanion aimed to create the basis for a civic tech ecosystem in Sweden by connecting initiatives and actors in the field in a common platform that we called Civic Tech Platform. The platform has been citizen-driven, inclusive and interdisciplinary, and built on knowledge, experience and contacts from the network Civic Tech Sweden, which since 2017 has been a meeting place for the development of civic tech initiatives in Sweden.
Expected long term effects
We have facilitated the collaboration between civic tech initiatives in Sweden mainly through work with our community via forums, Friday coffees, coaching, arranged ~10 labs and participated in ~20 events. The labs have contributed to creating a standard for knowledge-enhancing and co-creative activities. Our vision was to contribute to the renewal of democratic processes and put Sweden at the forefront of new citizen-centered services. An example is the lab "Climate Assemblies" which has contributed to two municipalities in Sweden exploring the potential of climate assemblies.
Approach and implementation
We have organised labs and workshops for knowledge exchange, project and business development with experts in areas such as open data, digital participation and citizen-driven innovation. On average, we had 35 participants at these. Due to the pandemic, these have been carried out online. We have provided communication support for the projects and offered the opportunity to present at conferences and similar events. We have coached and guided the projects in the development of their ideas, texts, applications, presentations and connected them with important contacts.
