Important results from the project
This planning project was initiated to (1) make a market analysis to verify the market demands about the properties that the product Buttler can offer, and (2) verify with a first prototype that the technology is working and to identify the gaps. (1) Market analysis confirm our thoughts and identify different needs for different stage of development in some national economies. (2) Laboratory tests confirm that the technology work. Gaps are identified.
Expected long term effects
The vortex and trap design proves to work. We learn that the volume of the trapped water in the seal make difference and development should reduce the seal by 20% for our product Buttler. Naturally the supplied water flow makes difference and eventhough the tests were performed at normal condition with community tap water, further technical development must drive the design towards higher performance at less water flows.
Approach and implementation
Most workflows such as patent service, market analysis and project management were performed locally in city of Västerås, Sweden. Exceptions were the computer design (Stockholm), flow analysis (Gothenburg) and manufacturing of the protoype (Nanjing China). The project followed very well the plan however with the following adjustments. New computer flow simulations were done based of the completed 3D drawings. The prototype was split in three pieces to gain flexibility in different parameters. Delivery of prototype was from China.
