Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project is to investigate, evaluate and test circular materials as an alternative to road salt. The project includes experiences from previous studies, examination of technical properties and requirements as well as testing and evaluation in the lab and in the field. The goal is to increase the sustainability of winter road maintenance, reduce Sweden´s import dependency and increase accessibility and safety for unprotected road users.
Expected effects and result
Expected result is an assessment of how investigated alternative, circular materials perform during winter road maintenance in Stockholms Stad. The effect is increased knowledge and decision basis for whether/how circular materials can be included in winter road maintenance.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will be conducted in three work packages and deliveries will consist of screening and selection in the lab followed by evaluation in the field.
