Important results from the project
The goal was to understand the city´s needs for work clothes and what circular opportunities exist, as well as to start implementing these so that we can promote circular business models. We wanted to explore which procurement processes and circular requirements that are possible to implement today and in the longer term. The project has resulted in an increased understanding of how work clothes are handled. We have received several recommendations on things that need to be solved internally with in the organization but also on how we should procure in the future and work with suppliers.
Expected long term effects
The project resulted in recommendations on how Göteborgs Stad should improve the handling of work clothes, steer towards more circular products and work with the market to promote circular business models. By implementing all the recommendations, the city will be on its way to change to a more circular handling and procurement of work clothes. Some of the recommendations are easier to implement and can be done in the shorter term, while others require long work, both internally and with the market. This project is the start of long-term work to torwards a circular mamangemnt of work wear.
Approach and implementation
A consultant was procured to process manage the work on the project. A needs analysis was carried out through in-depth interviews with employees in the city and workshops with the working group. Individual market dialogues have also been conducted with potential suppliers to the city. An Request for information for future procurement for work wear for internal environment has also been sent out to collect views and ensure that we get circular criteria in future procurements. Finally, the results were compiled in a report where we also received recommendations for further work.
