Important results from the project
Aim and objective are met. The project aimed to lay the foundations for a network of experts in life science that includes expertise in various industries. The project has developed the search tool www.swedishlifesciences.com which contains information about, and contact details for, more than 2,000 life science actors in Sweden. The search tool is open and free for anyone to search as well as to register in.
Expected long term effects
One expected results of the project was that the search tool should be used to identify collaboration partners. In recent years, the database has had approx. 10,000 visits / year, which indicates that there is a need for such a tool. An expected effect in the longer term is that the tool will contribute to the start-up of more collaborative projects that create benefits for individuals and society.
Approach and implementation
The arrangement in which the industry organizations defined the value chains and mapped companies based on which phase of the value chains the companies are active in, worked well. To build the search tool upon an existing platform, BiotechGate, was efficient and cost-effective. As is usually the case with this type of database, keeping the information in the database up-to-date is a challenge. Marketing through industry organizations, Business Sweden, flyers and demonstrations at collaborative meetings, websites and newsletters has worked well.
