Important results from the project

AdBIOPRO has built a dynamic and competitive environment for research on mammalian cell-based bioproduction, and is now extending. Its results are at the front of academic research within continuous bioprocessing. It is the only academic Centre for continuous bioprocessing of biologics. The iSAB commented “fully end-to-end continuous integrated biomanufacturing is indeed unique and an example of the Centre developing a world-leading capability”.. AdBIOPRO provides the Swedish industry with distinct competitive advantages, in terms of new technologies and training.

Expected long term effects

AdBIOPRO results are obvious from the 39 peer-reviewed publications and 100 public presentations. Beyond this, spreading of its technology to new partners of AdBIOPRO is happening, accompanied by national and international recognitions. The enlarged networking of the Centre provides as well new pathways for increased collaborations and exchanges. Importantly, the knowledge of bioprocessing and its intensification for the production therapeutic monoclonal antibodies can now be leveraged to the challenging field of Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products in AdBIOPRO.

Approach and implementation

AdBIOPRO is a Competence Centre where 6 academic groups from three universities/hospital are closely collaborating together and with 8 industrial partners. The Centre work has generated new technology, competence and also a new network for collaboration. The work has been organised in 6 projects, where exchanges and leveraging between projects has been sought and realised when possible.
