Important results from the project

The project has developed technical and business opportunities for circular economy at component level in the automotive industry. - Together with RISE, ACF has selected a practically functioning individual labeling method and suitable suppliers of marking of castings in direct connection with the casting for each brake disc. - Within the project, ACF has developed its business interest to bind circular business relations through the components´ life cycle through the label. - Draft implementation plan ACF and a main project for broader involvement of the value chain parties.

Expected long term effects

The results of the project are both an accelerated business-based awareness within the company ACF about opportunities and meanings for circular economy for long-lived, traceable brake discs, together with genuine built-up knowledge of existing labeling techniques for castings, including various production technical implications of doing this. These results may have long-term commercial and industrial effects, both through the fact that the labeling will form base for new business and that knowledge of different labeling techniques will be spread to other companies.

Approach and implementation

The project had 6 work packages, WP1 Prerequisite description (summarized business and technical requirements ACF), WP2 Compilation of technical possibilities (different technologies), WP3 Concept summary (different ways of implementing technologies from WP2), WP4 SWOT analyzes (assessed different technologies), WP5 Economic analyzes (valued different technology concepts from an economic perspective). Based on WP1-5: WP6 created draft Implementation Plan and Plan Main Project. All steps were carried out, and gave an interest in continuing with ACF and their suppliers.
