Important results from the project
The aim was to evaluate a new camera technology combined with advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence to be able to contactless from one meters distance determine all vital signs (bloodpressure, heart rate, breathing rate, oxygen saturation and body temperature) of a patient. Preliminary data show that the technology works and fine-tuning of the technology and evaluation of the same is currently underway. The first publication came in 2022. A new publication with final results is expected towards the end of 2023 or the beginning of 2024.
Expected long term effects
We expect that it will be possible to adjust the new technology to a good quality so that it will be possible to let a special camera read all vital signs by looking at a person´s face for 30 seconds. We expect that this could mean major improvements for health care.
Approach and implementation
In the study, all vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and body temperature) are recorded twice on patients seeking health care. Both times, vital parameters are recorded simultaneously with conventional methods as well as with the new special camera. The results are compared to see how much the new technology differs from conventional measurement of vital signs.
