Important results from the project
The project ”Circular Furniture Flow phase II” have had a the aim to develop and test detailed circular business model concepts within a value chain network for public furniture. Within the project have manufacturing companies and retailers developed and tested business model ideas for a more circular furniture flow.
Expected long term effects
The project gives that circular business models are reachable and profitable for both manufacturer and society. Different business models have been developed that already have reached the market. Reviews points at economical profitability and a reduction by half of needed resources as well as major reduction in climate consequences. In addition, there is good acceptance by customers and end users for circulated furniture. The project has as well developed guide lines and tools for product design, labelling, logistics and work environment.
Approach and implementation
In the project has actors from the complete value chain participated, from subcontractors, manufacturer and retailers for public clients, end users and branch organisations. We see a major interest inside and outside the branch for development towards a more circular flow. For conducting this in industrial scale, the clients need to develop way to work processes and opportunities towards circular economy. With this in place, the Swedish furniture industry will become a role model for a large scale adaptation to circular economy even for other branches.
