Important results from the project
Objective was to develop a technology for a cement based coating product with strong adhesion to protect concrete structures against chloride penetration, and also to eliminate unwanted discoloration. The project has shown that hBN additive provides equivalent or better adhesion and resistance to chloride penetration compared to graphene and is completely white. Objective was also that with hBN the technical properties would be improved by 50%, the project reached 30%. Knowledge of method improvements was developed during the project to be tested in future project.
Expected long term effects
The project has shown that hBN additive provides equivalent or better adhesion and resistance to chloride penetration compared to graphene and is completely white. Objective was that with the addition of hBN compared to without, the technical properties would improve by 50%, the project reached 30%. Knowledge of methodological improvements was reprocessed to be tested in the upcoming project.
Approach and implementation
The functionalization of the boron nitrate were checked by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The following properties were evaluated: fluidity, bending, adhesion and chloride penetration.
