Purpose and goal
The preparatory project aims to investigate the conditions for achieving a system demonstration of Bus on-demand (BoD) with autonomous vehicles coordinated with conventional vehicles, provided as part of regular public transport.
The preparation project´s main task is to define the system demonstration and identify the appropriate consortium and form of cooperation with the operator, vehicle and AD system in order to achieve a functioning implementation project together with Västtrafik.

Carrying out a national system demonstration project in a regional context is a cost-effective way to evaluate the potential of this technology, so that the lessons learned can be used for regional scale-up around the country.
Planned approach and implementation
The project aims to, as far as possible, prepare for a system demonstration of autonomous vehicles in an on-demand service, as part of the public transport regular offer, with paying customers. The project is based on Västtrafik´s experience of running Buss on-demand, which now takes the step to an operational area in a metropolitan region - Mölnlycke. It is also based on the strategic direction taken by Västtrafik, AD related project, as well as expertise both within Västtrafik and RISE.
