Important results from the project
The project aimed to develop materials and methods for producing paper-based bottles with barrier properties for carbonated drinks. The result of the project is a demonstrated easily upscalable process for application of a barrier on a strong paper shell. The work with upscaling was not performed within the project. One of the project members has decided to work on upscaling further after the end of the project.
Expected long term effects
The results demonstrated in the lab within the project has lead to one of the partners working on upscaling the technology further.
Approach and implementation
During the course of the project, the goals and resource distribution had to be revised. The upscaling work was removed from the initial plan and the barrier development was prioritized for the last two years of the project. Those choices lead to interesting and relevant results that can base for further development. Some delays in the project and the Covid-19 pandemic lead to an incomplete use of the budgeted resources for some partners.
