Important results from the project
Sweden has high ambitions for a fossil-free society. The development of competitive bio-based products and processes requires powerful investments in competence, skills and infrastructure. The goal of BIOpTRI was to investigate the needs for an open bio refinery test bed for the benefit of the environment, companies, society, Swedish technology development and competence development. The possibility to establish an internationally competitive test bed by coordinating and further developing skills and infrastructure in Örnsköldsvik is considered to be very good.
Expected long term effects
A plan for the establishment of a coordinated bio refinery test bed has been prepared with the parties within BIOpTRI. The parties agree to proceed to an implementation. Expected effects of a joint offer and enhanced profiling include; - market expansion and networking with clients, companies and society - increased utilisation of the infrastructure; more corporate customers, more EU projects - increased university collaboration in education and research - synergies between the parties e.g. increased cost efficiency - new orientations and working methods
Approach and implementation
Project partners have contributed with information on competencies, infrastructure, market support, customer structure, financing, etc. Contacts with clients from industry, universities, municipalities / regions and other test bed environments are initiated. Contacts with similar test bed environments in Europe have been established through the EU projects Erifore and Pilots4U. The collected data has been analysed and discussed at two workshops with the project partners. An initial organisational model for the test bed has been prepared and anchored with the parties.
