Important results from the project
The purpose of BIOBASE 2019 was to increase the ability of key players in various sectors to deal with the societal challenge of climate change through innovative, knowledge-based solutions. We created an international meeting place for knowledge and experience exchange in the circular and biobased economy, which enabled physical meetings where experiences can be exchanged, contacts can be made and networks are strengthened, which contributes to new innovative solutions in the area around the world. 129 guests at the study visits and 188 at the conference gave a good "melting pot".
Expected long term effects
Through the study visits and the brochure "Forest-based value chain" out, we have in an educational way show how the value chain is connected and how we work on sustainability issues from a circular and bio-based perspective, from forestry to consumers. This was then supplemented by a conference where we were able to delve deeper into some of the crucial issues for the transition to a circular and biobased economy. Several participants have expressed that this was a unique opportunity to get such a good overview of the value chain and thus gained new knowledge, as well as new contacts.
Approach and implementation
The project is a collaborative project between Piteå Science Park, the Ministry of Industry, the Forest Industries, and a number of national, regional and local players such as the North Sweden European Office, Luleå University of Technology, Bothnia Bioindustries Network (BOBIC), RISE, SCA, Sveaskog Smurfit Kappa, Billerud Korsnäs, SunPine, Lindbäck´s construction, SunCarbon, Norrbotten County Administrative Board, Innovation Piteå, and others.
