Call Build for the future - Innovation for a sustainable building and construction sector

Purpose and goal

The project aims to develop new, sustainable material solutions for facade elements in buildings based on a circular economy. The materials will be based on non-toxic and preferably renewable raw materials. The challenge will be to optimize the materials for durability and low maintenance over a long period of time, meet all regulatory requirements and have minimal environmental impact throughout its lifetime. This in combination with the fulfillment of requirements and expectations for recycling and reuse.

Expected effects and result

The project is expected to clearly contribute to the results of the call for proposals regarding new or improved technologies, products, and business models. Conscious choice of materials and additives will lead to increased resource efficiency and long product life. Furthermore, reuse and recycling will have a strong focus. The project´s results will be taken forward and put to good use, above all via the project´s manufacturing and user parties who will be able to quickly implement the results in their products.

Planned approach and implementation

The project consists of parties from the entire value chain with suppliers, manufacturers, requirements setters (e.g., architects and construction companies) and end users. There are actors from both business and research institutes, where the combined expertise will provide good opportunities to make decisions based on solid research results and the possibility of rapid industrialization. The work includes analyses of needs, sustainability and market potential, material development and verification, as well as dissemination of project results.
