Important results from the project
The project´s aim was to produce prototypes of risk waste containers for evaluation by future users. Great progress has been made in all areas of production, but there are still details left which mean that we have not been able to leave the prototypes to external evaluators. The project´s goal was to produce a pilot series of risk waste containers with optimized design, production and finishing. We have worked intensively in all these areas. Production has been carried out and collaborations have been initiated with various companies. However, not everything has been optimized.
Expected long term effects
The risk waste container that is produced will become a choice in public procurement and the purchase of private companies. The results from the project show that it is entirely possible to manufacture a bio-based hazardous waste container. This will have a big impact on the reduction of CO2 emissions. We have with good result produced containers and lids so we have come close to producing a prototype of a bio-based risk waste container and therefore close to meeting the goal of a risk waste container with a lower climate footprint than today´s commercial risk waste containers.
Approach and implementation
Implementation was set up so that tools would be developed in the beginning, then production would take place (containing both process development and prototype development) and this would be followed by work with the various finishing treatments (sealing etc.). It quickly emerged that the lock would not meet the requirements for permanent closure. Therefore, much more time was spent on the design than first thought. In parallel with this (and not in series), work began on the other areas. The parallel work could have started earlier because it was favorable for the whole project.
