Important results from the project
BiMaC Innovation has contributed to breakthroughs in the forest-based industry sector based on the development of the scientific understanding related to biobased materials from Swedish forests. This work has also resulted in new concepts for forest-based materials. A major focus has been to bridge the gap between university research and industrial application, which has been achieved through the development of joint so-called implementation projects, where research results were linked to industry-based internal development activities.
Expected long term effects
BiMaC Innovation has delivered knowledge and technology that today is used industrially in production, especially in the industry´s own process and product development. Specifically, new characterization methods and material models have had a major impact and have been evaluated map industrial implementation. The scientific production (publications) has also been successful with several articles being published in highly rated scientific journals.
Approach and implementation
During the second half of BiMaC Innovation, a way of working has been developed where research was spun off within the centre into so-called implementation projects. These have, as an explicit purpose, to transfer scientific results into technologies that can be used for commercialization within industry´s internal process and product development. The scientific production (publications) has also developed, which is closely associated with the development of the Wallenberg Wood Science Center. This has established a world-leading competence related to BiMaC Innovation.
