Important results from the project

To coordinate work on the roadmaps for cement and concrete industries and eliminate obstacles to their implementation. The goal has been to reduce CO2 emissions by mobilizing the entire value chain in climate work around cooperation issues, legislative and financial challenges as well as technical solutions in the short and long term where both new materials and techniques are to be used and demanded by the entire community. The aim has been to contribute to the development of KPIs and to the industry´s capacity to measure, follow and communicate its sustainable transition.

Expected long term effects

BETCRETE has become an established independent platform for cross-disciplinary discussions and regulatory and technical development of innovative solutions as well as a value-creating knowledge and information channel for cement and concrete issues. The overall effect is that the percentage of concrete producers offering climate-improved concrete increased by 33% from 2019 to 2021.

Approach and implementation

BETCRETE 2.0 has been run as a national collaboration project around challenges with and measures to reach the goals within roadmaps for the cement and concrete industries. The project consortium consisted of 21 parties that are affected by the two roadmaps and have a major impact on different parts of the entire value chain. The work has been carried out in the form of dialogs, meetings, workshops, analyses and lab-tests. The proposals and results have been evaluated and applied to conceptual and real projects. Great emphasis has been placed on the dissemination of questions and results.
