Important results from the project
Among young newcomers, there is often an experienced betrayal from the public and a feeling that one is outside the community with difficulties in obtaining help and belonging. This can lead to crime and abuse if young people see no other alternative. Our work is based on inclusion, joy, community, openness, participation, respect, transparency and diversity. Our vision is to reduce inequality, create equal, peaceful and inclusive communities with viable people who have good health and well-being through sports, outdoor life and cultural activities.
Expected long term effects
Our Befriend festival reached about 400 children. The purpose was to invite all children and young people. We showed a lot of possible activities! After the summer, we received 85 visits each week by children compared to November - 145 visits. We have been given the opportunity to customize our activities to include children on a safe term. For an improved health, permanent residence permits are the difference. What we have been able to contribute to is improved schooling, our inclusive environment creates better mental health and our activities better physical health.
Approach and implementation
We hired role models for children and young people who have created confidence in our activities and young people have followed these role models. We have been given time to invest in the relationship with these bridge builders and anchor more clearly the values and messages of the association. We conducted a Befriend festival during summer. During the day, about 400 children participated. The program included activities; teakwondo, dancing hip hop, running board. Try-on activities have followed throughout the project as well as offerings to participate in our regular activities.
