Important results from the project
Volvo aimed to test and validate L4 machines and the communication to increase competence on what areas needs to improve. RISE aimed to collect data, develop and analysis of models based on operative data in real environment. Models showed significance for optimizing productivity and uptime. Telia aimed to contribute with communication capacity for tests to be performed, data from tests and competence in data communication. Ericsson´s goal included remotehandling, handling of telemetricdata and a Digital twin
Expected long term effects
Test of the system in real environment result in learnings around system maturity and improvements. Tests in Hofors showed that it is possible to implement a fully L4 transport solution in real customer environment. However improvements are needed to reach customers requirements e.g. accessability, scalability and commercialization. The result indicates high potential to optimize by using digital twins based on machinedata. The project indicates on the value to compare and combine the connectivity infrastructure capabilities over the entire route.
Approach and implementation
The project had regular meetings, bi-weekly follow up on status and the progress. Considering the circumstances with pandemic this was of high value to create continous exchange of the results and discuss way forward. Tests and analysis were done on autonomous machines in a real test track, where we have installed infrastructure for testing and validating functionality, communication between machine and infrastructure. The data used in the project was collected from a real customer and the results from the data has been analyzed. A final demonstration is planned.
