Important results from the project
The aim of the ARR project was to develop the potential of automation in repairs and remanufacturing. This was conducted at the four repairing/remanufacturing companies through process analyses of their existing repair and remanufacturing processes. In addition, the project consortia developed virtual and physical demonstrators of the automation solution that were found having the best potential for implementation at the participating companies. Within the project we discussed in what manner the demonstrators should be realized.
Expected long term effects
New possibilities of including automation have been analyzed at the participating companies within the ARR project. The companies have now gained better insights of what is possible to do in order to achieve more efficient processes through shorter lead times, better work environment and product quality. The companies have gained increased possibilities to be more competitive and as well as their know-how on automation. The automation cases have also been used in education at the universities.
Approach and implementation
The ARR project started with a workshop about the project aim, goals and content. Then the companies’ processes were analysed in order to find out what steps that were of interest within the boundaries of the project. Virtual and physical demonstrators were developed at the companies in parallel with the dissemination of the project results both nationally and internationally.
