Automatic quality assurance and root cause analysis in running production

Reference number
Coordinator Chalmers Tekniska Högskola AB - Chalmers Tekniska Högskola Inst f Industri- & materialvetensk
Funding from Vinnova SEK 6 483 550
Project duration November 2021 - October 2024
Status Completed
Venture FFI - Sustainable Production
Call Sustainable production - FFI - June 2021

Important results from the project

The project goals have been met by developing a system that can carry out all control of the geometry of details in both cold and hot forming processes. The goal of 6 publications was achieved. Other techniques developed were: - Reduction of cycle time for verification of robot-borne detail - Technology for correlation of heat/geometry influence during hot forming

Expected long term effects

The technological steps achieved create the conditions for increased competitiveness for Swedish industry by streamlining the quality assurance of production processes and thereby obtaining a sustainable production system with reduced adjustment needs and scrapping of details. This increases energy and material utilization.

Approach and implementation

The work was divided into six different work packages (AP) where each AP was assigned a project manager. Project management: Project coordinator is Kristina Wärmefjord, CTH and project manager is Alf Andersson, VCG. A management group with one participant from each party monitors and manages the project. The schedule was followed. At the end of the project one of the project participants went bankrupt. However, the project could be completed according to plan.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
