Automated Seamless Interfaces for Sustainable Transport (ASIST)

Reference number
Coordinator Chalmers Tekniska Högskola AB - Chalmers Tekniska Högskola Inst f Tekn ekonomi & organisation
Funding from Vinnova SEK 340 000
Project duration November 2024 - June 2025
Status Ongoing
Venture Transport and mobility services - FFI
Call Transport and mobility services - FFI – autumn 2024

Purpose and goal

ASIST includes the following goals: - Identify relevant technologies for automated loading and unloading - Identify industrial characteristics to consider in relation to automated loading and unloading - Identify requirements that a seamless solution needs to satisfy - Prepare the development of business models that are relevant in relation to automated loading and unloading - Prepare a future research project that will expand the knowledge further

Expected effects and result

ASIST will contribute to the realisation of seamless goods transport solutions and support the transition to autonomous transports. ASIST contributes to all three dimensions of sustainability: the increased resource efficiency supports financial sustainability, the potential for smoother material flows and reduced congestion supports environmental sustainability, and the elimination of potentially strenuous manual handling improves working conditions and supports social sustainability.

Planned approach and implementation

The project studies multiple cases and applies a combination of mapping of material flows (to identify interfaces), using business model canvas (to identify business cases) and workshops (to understand the potential of the cases). The project includes four work packages: 1) project management, 2) requirements and specifications, 3) impact assessment, and 4) dissemination.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
