Important results from the project
When Attract C started, it was expected that the project would lead to i.e. 1) the design of more attractive and sustainable outdoor environments in cold climate, with regards to city planning and stormwater aspects; 2) that profound knowledge would be developed on the market potential of several products; and 3) that partners in the consortia, through their collaboration in Attract, would identify new, innovative market opportunities. All of these sub targets were fulfilled.
Expected long term effects
The companies and municipalities have been/are main responsible to work with the application and commercialization of research findings. Sweco Architects has developed a new consultancy niche, to make business of results from e.g., Attract. Design Evolution started as a spin-off from Tyréns, to utilize the business potential of results from e.g., Attract. The municipalities and several of the companies are utilizing several of the decision support systems, methods and recommendations that were developed within Attract.
Approach and implementation
The main advantage with a cooperation project, where need owners (municipalities, companies) are working together with researchers to bring forth results, is that needs form the basis for the work. But that also means that all involved parties have to be open for changes. In fact, the changes that took place within Attract are a main reason for its success. That is, Attract has encountered both opportunities and challenges, which in dialogue with Vinnova led to changes in the delivery plan. Also, bonus deliveries were added as spin-offs to already planned deliveries.
