Important results from the project

The final goal of HEAT4INDUSTRY is to develop, demonstrate, and bring into the market robust, cost-effective, and replicable High Temperature Heat Pump solutions supporting the development of fossil-free industrial sectors. HEAT4INDUSTRY will adapt, test and demonstrate two promising HTHP integrated systems for industrial processes up to 135°C and will conduct technical, economical, and environmental analyses of replicability in heating processes in four different industrial sectors and in the building sector.

Expected long term effects

HEAT4INDUSTRY´s impact is to promote a just transition through the demonstration of highly replicable and adaptable HTHP designed for three main outcomes: (i) Reaching a higher energy efficiency in industries with an energy consumption reduction. (ii) Combining energy efficiency and renewable energy sources with digital and smart technologies to support the transformation of building stock. (iii) Supporting EU global leadership in clean and climate-neutral industrial value chain and promoting increased autonomy in strategic value chains with security of clean energy supply.

Approach and implementation

HEAT4INDUSTRY is structured with 8 inter-related Work Packages (WPs) over 4 years, each contributing to specific objectives. Coordination and management activities are planned in WP1. Heating process assessments required to design the heat upgrade systems & optimize its integration in existing facilities are considered in WP2, WP3 & WP6. Large-scale HTHPs & demonstrators design and implementation activities will be performed in WP4 & WP5. Business models & market uptake activities will be developed in WP7. Communication & dissemination activities are considered in WP8.
