Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to enable Swedish and European industry to develop and deliver software with predictable performance and reduced resource usage for heterogeneous parallel platforms. This has been achieved by developing tools and methodologies that support this goal.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in a physical FPGA platform with two soft LEON3 cores and a virtual platform corresponding to the physical but which also supports up to 16 cores. This in order to develop a concept of virtual time for parallel systems. The framework for the virtual platform, Emul8, will continue to be developed by RTE, together with others as open source.
Approach and implementation
The design and implementation of the project has followed the original plan with annual integration of tools and methods for an incremental build-up of a demonstrator infrastructure.
