Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The purpose of the area analysis is to increase understanding of the competence in the area within Sweden. We think this is well fulfilled by the descriptions of: Driving forces that focus on understanding degradability Knowledge and which methods are needed when designing new sustainable material concepts. What competences need to work together to develop the area Utvecklingsbehov Behov of methods, standards and certification, as well as criteria for describing, reporting and verifying business and sustainability offerings

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The results constitute a description of the area and highlight the complexity. Definitions of central concepts are presented together with a model for how decomposition takes place. Degradation of a material is greatly affected by its environment and the presence of water and air etc. The project identified 5 clear needs for research and development.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project´s plan was to go through scientific literature on biodegradability, mainly of plastics, and summarize the situation, as well as to draw a model for the process by using a number of definitions. Stakeholder dialogues and round table discussions were then carried out to formulate needs descriptions and gather expertise in the area.
