Important results from the project

The project objective to promote independence for individuals with disabilities by creating a user-friendly tool to find relevant digital support has been met by further developing, launching and spreading the use of Appoteket nationally. The project´s aim to further develop Appoteket into a sustainable tool that meets needs nationally has been met through collaboration with Swedish countys, project partners, employees, daily activities and universities.

Expected long term effects

After the end of the project, Appoteket has been launched both as a website and a customized web application with almost 200 applications. The page also contains skills-enhancing content that can be used to further facilitate the work with welfare technology. Since its launch, the website has been visited by almost 5,000 unique visitors from all over the country. Appotekets users have reported that they have been looking for a solution like this and that in several cases it’s use has led to digital support being implemented for people with an increased need for support.

Approach and implementation

The project plan has mainly been followed with some minor changes that were deemed necessary during the project. The biggest deviations from the project plan have been related to Appoteket´s sustainability after the end of the project and include the choice to handle a larger part of the development internally via Wordpress and to bring forward phase 5 which concerns sustainability. The deviations have been made so that the maintenance and operation of the tool does not depend on external competence but can be handled internally in the organization.
