Important results from the project
The overall aim of AFC is to prevent obesity, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders through evidence based innovative food concepts.
Expected long term effects
The research strategy is successful in that it has provided novel insights regarding food mechanisms with antidiabetic potential and regarding approaches for food based prevention. Among particularly groundbreaking results we mention elucidation of mechanisms involved in the diet-gut microbiome-host metabolism cross talk affecting metabolism and appetite regulation.
Approach and implementation
The research is performed in a cross-disciplinary environment including industrial partners and the health and medical care system creating the best opportunities for research in this area.
