Important results from the project
The aim of the project has been to investigate the feasibility of a camera system which can localize animals on a farm. The project has been successful and it seems to be technically feasible and the market potential is very large.
Expected long term effects
Several image processing algorithms have been developed and tested within the project. The result is a better basis for decision regarding next steps, and also a library of algorithms that can be used also in other applications. A lot of knowledge about needs and potential clients has been collected during the project. The potential of commercializing a product is very good.
Approach and implementation
The first phase included a study of requirements and brainstorming regarding different concepts. A lot of data were then collected at a farm to evaluate different camera positions and create test data for the algorithm development. Main part in the project was development and tests of image processing algorithms. In parallel to this the market was analyzed and several farms and market-leading systems suppliers were contacted.
