Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to verify the need for All Aboard (allaboard.eu) through a feasibility study. Furthermore, the project created a foundation for development, funding and launch of the product. A large part of the project focused on user tests of what functions are of interest and how they should work. Many initial ideas and hypotheses were proven wrong - which is further evidence of the importance of solid feasibility studies and user tests.
Expected long term effects
Practically, the project resulted in a number of interactive prototypes that were tested on users, and a technical proof of concept that follows the same logic as the prototypes. Both of these have been important in identifying the best solutions to many of the problems experienced by train travelers. The project has verified the need for All Aboard (allaboard.eu) that is making it easy to plan, book and buy train tickets for traveling abroad by train in Europe.
Approach and implementation
In the initial stages, the project group laid the foundation for the scope, focus areas and general direction. Subsequently, interface design and several prototypes were developed. In parallel, a thorough technical prestudy with an inventory of existing train booking services was conducted. This was then tested in a proof of concept. The project process was smooth and without major obstacles or delays.
