Important results from the project
The southern node is now established as an engine in southern Sweden and the work of accelerating applied AI regionally has started well. The Node has succeeded in attracting and connecting a good mix of partners and individuals with expertise to generate value for national acceleration. They have contributed with both knowledge and commitment both regionally and nationally. The establishment of AI Sweden in the regional innovation system has met challenges and it has taken time for the national and regional perspectives to settle, but is now in a good position for further development.
Expected long term effects
The project has succeeded in attracting and connecting a good mix of partners and involved everyone in different operational areas as well as identifying individuals with expertise to generate value for national strength and acceleration. Some concrete examples: -Great commitment and strategic planning from regions in the south -Great commitment to hackathons -Increased involvement from Lund University in AI transformation -AI policy for children -Several promising start-ups identified -Dialogue for integration of Smart City Lab in Helsingborg in AI Sweden´s Data factory
Approach and implementation
Node manager has actively run regional and national activities, events, projects, knowledge dissemination, partner and ecosystem management and established node. Since the spring of 2020, the node has had a technical project manager, who has worked with strategic areas, application projects, a data factory, and a feasibility study in AI and Climate. In 2020, Region Blekinge joined as an AI Sweden partner and a 100% project resource was added at Blue Science Park. Lund University has contributed a part-time resource during 2021 within Training
