Important results from the project
The project achieved its initial goals and followed the planned timeline. The platform, data pipelines, and AI methods for PHM were developed as intended and are considered highly relevant for industry use. The project also delivered important additional results, including advanced early‑failure detection algorithms, deeper analysis of critical components, established data pipelines, and a completed licentiate thesis.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to generate long‑term impact by enabling more efficient and predictive maintenance, reducing unplanned downtime, and improving resource utilisation. Its scalable AI platform strengthens the mining sector’s digital maturity, supports secure data sharing, and creates conditions for new work practices, business models, and increased sustainability in future operations.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out through a structured model with six work packages, covering needs analysis, system definition, platform development, AI modelling, integration, and demonstration. Work progressed iteratively with continuous data collection, analysis, and verification in close collaboration with LKAB and DAMILL to ensure industrial relevance.
