Important results from the project
The project AI-engine for optimized customer ordering has been part of the company´s digitalisation journey and is the first step towards approaching AI. The focus has been on improving the existing customer journey by increasing the accuracy of the sales process with the help of smarter analysis of data and to create insights with the help of machine learning. In practice, this means reducing administration and hand-laying through automation, thus giving the customer a more positive buying experience. The goal has not yet been fully achieved as a longer refinement period is required.
Expected long term effects
The greatest effect has been achieved in the use case where the challenge has been overproduction of a product and where you immediately need to find buyers to avoid disposal. There, the problem formulation has been very clear, which has facilitated the development of a successful machine learning model. The solution is based on that the model learns which customer bought a certain product, how many times, when and at what price and calculating the probability to buy again. In this way, waste is reduced and Nyhléns Hugosons takes another step towards more sustainable production.
Approach and implementation
The work of developing that recommendation engine is based on a model developed to address problems that have a potential solution that lies within the AI area and can be summarized in four steps; needs and opportunity analysis, identification and analysis of data, design and construction of model and implement and refine. The steering of the project has taken place through continuous steering group meetings. The proportion of women has been 1/3, project manager and main sponsor have been women. The project has had a strong communication value and as part of the project a film has been shot.
