Call Innovative collaborations with the USA in XR - step 1

Important results from the project

- Developed a quick prototype using off-the-shelf technologies to test feasibility and align with current technological capabilities. - Successfully established closer ties with US companies for potential research collaborations. - Secured commitment from key collaborators for the second phase of the project, with one partner still finalising their letter of intent. - Prepared for the possibility of continued collaboration with partners already aligned with the project´s goals.

Expected long term effects

With this project, we are effectively introducing a new research dimension and application area that merges the fields of AI and XR. This convergence has the potential to foster long-term collaboration, drive knowledge production, and contribute to product development. Given the rapid advancements in AI and the constantly evolving interests in XR, we believe this will represent the next major leap for both domains.

Approach and implementation

Our initial step focused on developing a quick prototype using freely available resources and off-the-shelf technologies to ensure the concept´s feasibility and alignment with current technological capabilities. Additionally, we aimed to establish closer ties with US companies for potential research collaborations, a goal we successfully achieved. A master´s thesis student has been recruited to work on the topic, and we are preparing a position paper, which will be submitted to an HCI venue.
