Important results from the project

The project “Agenda for the landscape” provides the conditions for developing processes for continuously updated, high-quality data of the landscape and land-use in Sweden and for ensuring long-term management of Nationella marktäckedata (NMD). Performance goals have been met or partially met. The users´ needs / requirements picture has been compiled, a technology development plan as a basis for an implementation plan has been prepared, possible work processes between the authorities have been identified and a consortium has been formed.

Expected long term effects

NMD is integrated into several users´ systems and this project lays the groundwork for creating a continuously updated NMD, see the performance goals above. The project is expected to contribute to the sustainable use of ecosystems and its biodiversity. A map of Sweden with constantly up-to-date information on the landscape will help authorities and stakeholders in decisions making, plans and on-going adjustments relating to environmental, societal and emergency preparedness.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out in the parts planned of which three are central; requirements analysis, analyses of best practices and methods, as well as compilation of bases for decision data and anchoring. Three workshops have been conducted with authorities, consultants and research institutes to obtain the basis for the requirements, the technology development plan, the management plan and for the work to form a consortium. In parallel, steering group meetings have been held for decision-making, working meetings for technical issues and additional user meetings.
