Important results from the project
AgeLab helps bridge the digital exclusion found in certain social groups, such as for the elderly, women in health care and level of education. The project has as objective to increase the knowledge of digital welfare technology by allowing the elderly, relatives and employees the opportunity to test and be inspired of new technology. To succeed with the project, it has been important to create accessibility to the test environment, both with the choice of physical placement on Krokslätts Community Center and flexible opening hours, for visitors.
Expected long term effects
The project is carried out in collaboration with several partners such as the Göteborgs Stad Intraservice, Family relative Association in Gothenburg and educational institutions and has, with the help of test panels, designed the inspiration environment. About 140 visitors came to the inauguration and in December, 70 people visited us among several of the target groups. The project has already seen signs of goal fulfillment, when Care operations managers report increased use of welfare technology from employees, and elderly who want to start using specific products.
Approach and implementation
The inspirational environment is designed as a resident´s apartment and shows samples of about 25 products and solutions that can be used in everyday situations as well as for specific needs. The welfare technology products that AgeLab shows, among other things, are voice control of lighting and TV and how to sleep more easily with the help of a "sleeping robot". Students from Göteborgs Universitet have conducted field studies during the project period and the presentation of the premises takes place both with employees from Göteborgs Stad and in collaboration with volunteers.
