Important results from the project
The objectives of the project´s first step to identify promising forest-based components for adhesives and paint products, as well as their production processes and the partnership needed to proceed with in-depth testing and up scaling have been acheived.
Expected long term effects
After the first step of the project, we now have a strong consortium wishing to proceed with the identified and prioritized pathways for wood based components for adhesives and paint.
Approach and implementation
During the first step of the project, two market analyzes have been carried out, one for paint and one for adhesives. In workshops with all project partners, we have developed proposals for forest-based components to continue with in the next step and made a preliminary evaluation of which of these are most appropriate to proceed with. Both drop-in chemicals based on forest raw materials and polymeric structures from the wood, such as hemicellulose, lignin and extractives, have been taken into account and in the step 2 setup the components are based on both of these routes.
