Important results from the project
LunaMicro develops textile pumps that transport water from one side of the “fabric” to the other. In this project, we have: established a production line for textile pumps including an electronic control module suitable for use in clothing, started 2 pilot projects with large international brands, developed two preferred business models which are suitable for differing markets, partners, and stages of commercialization.
Expected long term effects
The project has created several opportunities for long-term collaborations within both the sports garment industry and personal protection equipment. The prototypes, production line, and market analyses have led to technology-development projects with multinational brands in our initial target market. We anticipate long-term collaborations with these partners, resulting in products incorporating our technology on the market.
Approach and implementation
A good portion of the project two parts - technical development for the clothing industry and market verification - was completed under the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite virtual instead of physical meetings, delayed deliveries, and an unwillingness of companies to take on new projects, the flexibility in our organization and the project allowed its successful completion with the collaborations we established before the pandemic, albeit more slowly than expected.
