Important results from the project

The purpose of the project has been to improve the technology related to raised floor technology in terms of environmental impact, installation speed, and working conditions. The objective was to concretize the design ideas into a prototype within the project´s framework, verify the installation-related improvements, and test the sound properties to ensure that the execution does not result in significantly degraded sound performance compared to products available on the market. The purpose and goals have been achieved

Expected long term effects

The system has proven to be stable and very quick to install. Disassembly can be done without damage, providing opportunities for temporary dismantling and/or reuse. Testing sound insulation properties in a controlled environment is challenging. Test results are influenced by boundary conditions that make it difficult to translate results into real-world applications. The measurement results indicate that the construction has good potential to serve as an effective sound-insulating raised floor. Extended testing in a built environment is required for verification.

Approach and implementation

The implementation plan has been adjusted during the process. Resources for market research have been reallocated to expanded practical testing/verification. It was realized early on that experiences from hands-on testing and trial assemblies provide crucial insights for the ongoing design work. Therefore, testing activities have become a pervasive element throughout the project.
