Important results from the project
Bioprocess Control implemented the project with the intention to design, build and test a smart data network and cloud-based platform that allows for key process information from both continuous fermentation tests, pilot- and full-scale data to be collected, stored, analysed and presented in a standardised manner. This platform can be used to monitor process operation and gain process knowledge with a significant reduction in time and labour.
Expected long term effects
The project team has worked closely with external partners and develop a standardised and modularized database. The architectural structure of the database has a great potential in capacity expansion for a large amount of data handling and storage. The first user application that has been developed allows data analysis from multiple independent processes to be performed in a very user-friendly manner. We will arrange two product packages for continuous fermentation test in different hardware and IT configurations for the product launch by the end of 2017.
Approach and implementation
During the project implementation, we have experienced a delay in project implementation due to both manpower resource shortage of one main external partner and the organisation change of another industrial partner. With very good support from Vinnova, we managed to adjust the implementation time plan accordingly and put our focus on the core technology that should be developed in the project.
