Important results from the project
The purpose of this pilot study was to find forms to encourage and push the development of norm critical innocation. The concrete goal was to investigate the potential of a norm-critical labeling system in the computer games industry, which also included a support for norm critital innovation for game developers. This study found that the potential lays in a norm-critical support for innovation than a label. The project therefore resulted in a sketch of such a support system, as well as a plan to create and realize this.
Expected long term effects
The plan to realize this innovation support system concludes how development will be implemented and funded. A result of the pilot study was therefore - An application to VINNOVA on financing of a project to creates and implements a support system for norm critical innovation in the games industry - An extended project team to perform the project (with several game companies and partners in cooperation). See description in the application ´2015-03831 Spektrum X - Normkritiskt innovationsstöd för dataspelsbranschen´
Approach and implementation
To investigate the feasibility of a labeling system and support systems for innovation, the pre study conducted the following: - Analysis and mapping of existing labeling systems within and outside the games industry, including the considering the idea of support for innovation for developers - An investigation of existing knowledge regarding game development processes, and how new knowledge is acquired, too evaluate the possibility of innovation support. - Interviews of key poeple in the industry to measure interest in a labeling system and/or support system for innovation.
