Important results from the project
By meeting 70 municipalities, we aimed to compile the challenges they encounter with open data, contribute to increased knowledge and write useful material. Our experience is that the interest is low, and that it is hard to reach the uninterested, regardless of level. Among those we have met, their knowledge when it comes to use, licenses and challenges has increased. By taking part in meetings with Sambruk/SKL we have also contributed to connecting municipalities, who benefit from networking.
Expected long term effects
The meetings have resulted in a roadmap to distribute to municipalities, and a white paper to the government. The roadmap identifies different levels of open data work, and give concrete advice on how municipalities can move forward from their respective levels. In that way, they can benefit from those who have come further, and be role models for those who have not come as far. The white paper can hopefully lead to changes on a national level, through concrete policy proposals.
Approach and implementation
We have contacted municipalities through registrars, via the SKL to the KOLADA-contacts of the municipalities, by taking part in different network meetings and by calls in social medias. During the meetings, we have discussed partly what open data is and how the municipalities can work to publish more of their data, but also the experiences that can be drawn on, and how the work that is done in a municipality can be used by others to make the work easier.
